Favorite Catholic Podcasts & Videocasts
Here is a list of my favorite Catholic podcasts & videocasts - sometimes called "New Media". I use aggregators to manage both. I use Apple iTunes or Miro (getmiro.com). You can also just click the links to hear them using whatever audio or video player you have installed.
SQPN.com is the brainchild of Fr. Roderick Vonhoegen of the Netherlands. He started podcasting while visiting Rome. It just happened to be when Pope John Paul II was taken seriously ill and he talks about being in Rome during the Pope's death. He was also in Rome when Pope Benedict XVI was elected. His emotion in those podcasts are inspiring. Fr. Roderick's original podcast was "Catholic Insider" and that has morphed into "Catholic Insider" which is more of a travel or "soundseeing" podcast and a weekday show called "Daily Breakfast with Fr. Roderick". These are found under the Talkshows heading in the banner.
A list of my favorite SQPN podcasts:
Daily Breakfast with Fr. Roderick
This podcast tackles all things Catholic with an emphasis on video games, movies, television & books. It is Catholic "light" by design to be accessible to all. He explores Catholic themes in various books, TV shows & movies. Some of his explorations have ended up as podcasts (found under Educational section in the banner on sqpn.com) dealing with specific movies. Star Wars, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, & Pirates of the Carribean are some that he has covered with help from a supporting cast.
The Saintcast
This podcast is put together by Dr. Paul Camarata who is a neurosurgeon by profession. The podcast frequency is about once a week. Each week is on a different saint(s) or provides an audio tour of various Catholic churches & shrines that he visits with his family. Since he also happens to be a Notre Dame parent he does have a "soundseeing tour" of ND and Sacred Heart Basilica.
Catholic Under The Hood
Fr. Seraphim Beshoner, OFM is from Franciscan University in Steubenville. His podcasts concentrate on the history of the Catholic Church. Currently he is with Franciscan's Austrian program & his last few podcasts have been on Europe & the Church in the middle ages.
In the video section of SQPN check out:
Grace Before Meals where Fr. Leo Patalinghug is awesome cooking up liturgically colored pasta sauces. You can also check out his site.
That Catholic Show
This has some pretty good short videos on the Catholic Faith. Might be good for RCIA. Season 2 may not happen since the hosts are the Willets, who also do Rosary Army, have been picked up to do a 3 hour daily show on Sirius satellite radio.
Cardinal Arinze Podcast
The only magesterial podcast that I know of is available through Catholic Familyland or libsyn. Watching Cardinal Arinze tear down soft thinking and liturgical abuse is pretty cool! This podcast was audio originally but has been video podcasts of late.
And finally there is Vatican Radio podcast. You can choose your favorite language, I usually listen in English.

Favorite Video
This video is wonderful. It has me laughing every time I watch it. No matter how big the world is and how different cultures exist, some things are universal; children laughing & dancing always warms your heart.
Where the Hell is Matt? (2008) from Matthew Harding on Vimeo.
This is by Matt Harding, xbox screen name BadDancer. Check out his website and blog.
The "bad" dancing in the video is a testament to the statement by G.K. Chesterton that "anything worth doing is worth doing badly" & it reminded me of the thesis of Fr. James Schall's book: "On the Unseriousness of Human Affairs: Teaching, Writing, Playing, Believing, Lecturing, Philosophizing, Singing, Dancing".
